The new flick 'Yamalokamlo Seenugadu'

The budding actor Krishnudu of 'Vinayakudu' fame is all set act under ace director Kodi Ramakrishna for a socio-fantasy film. This flick will be produced by KV Rao which is said to be a graphics oriented film and is titled 'Yamalokamlo Seenugadu'. Briefing on the project Rao said that "a Telugu speaking technician who has done graphical work for Hollywood flicks like 'Mummy' and '300' is going to work for this film. The main attraction of the film would be Late NTR and Late MGR appearing on silver-screen in graphics form".

'Kalvaramaye Madilo' getting ready

'Kalavaramaye Madilo' the latest musical film starring Biryani boy Kamal Kamaraju and 'Colours' Swathi in the lead roles and it is finishing shoot rapidly. The flick is directed by Satish of Hope fame and produced by Mohan Vadlapatla under Mohan Media Creations banner. 70 percent of the shooting has been completed so far. The noted Hindi actor Vikram Gokhale is playing a vital role in the film. Nation celebrates Oscar awards

President Pratibha Patil today congratulated the team of 'Slumdog Millionaire' which created sensation by winning eight Oscars. The President is happy that 'Slumdog Millionaire' has won Oscars in various categories. She congratulated the winning team, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said. "The President is specially thrilled with the remarkable feat achieved by A.R. Rahman, Gulzar, Resul Pookutty and making India proud," the spokesperson said.

The film bagged eight awards including two Oscars for Rahman for Best Original Score and Best Song for "Jai Ho", which was penned by lyricist Gulzar.

Pookutty, a sound technician from Kerala, won the Oscar in the Sound Mixing category. The film went on to bag the award for Best Film, Best Director for Danny Boyle and Best Adapted Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy. Congress President Sonia Gandhi congratulated the 'Slumdog Millionaire' team, particularly Rehman and Resul Pookutty. "I am delighted that A.R. Rehman and Resul Pookutty have won this year's much coveted Oscars for music and sound editing. They have done India proud, as have all the Indian actors, technicians and support staff who participated in the making of 'Slumdog Millionaire'," Gandhi said in a statement. "They represent the finest traditions of our film industry and are an inspiration to all of us," she said.

Home minister P. Chidambaram favoured tax exemption to two Oscars bagged by Rahman for 'Slumdog Millionaire'. "If the Oscars carry a cash award, I will recommend to the finance minister that it should be exempt from taxation," Chidambaram, who is also former finance minister, said.

When asked whether such tax exemption would be given, CBDT chairman S.S.N. Moorthy refused a direct reply, saying this is a policy decision. As Rahman and Pookutty scripted history, members of the film fraternity joined voices to applaud the enviable feat achieved by the duo.

Lyricist Gulzar, who penned the Oscar-winning song 'Jai ho' for which Rahman won an Oscar, said, "It is a great thing to be a part of this composition which has won an award. It is an extra happiness and extra thrill for me." "My first reaction was surprise and thrill but as soon as the programme started my bet was on Rahman. I am very happy for Resul, another Indian technician who brought home the Oscar," said Gulzar, whose name was mentioned by the award presenter Alicia Keys while announcing the nominees.

Chennai, the home city of Rahman, erupted into spontaneous celebrations as the music maestro bagged two Oscars for his score in 'Slumdog Millionaire' at the 81st Academy Awards. As TV channels flashed the news of the Mozart of Madras bagging the coveted award, his fans celebrated it cutting cakes, distributing sweets and bursting crackers. Family members of Rahman and his fans cut a huge cake right in the middle of the street opposite his house in the Kodambakkam area and burst "10,000 wala" crackers. Students of several city colleges also joined the celebrations distributing sweets while the film fraternity, including leading singers, hailed his achievement.

Chiranjeevi says that he is missing Tollywood

Chiranjeevi who clapped for 100th film of actor Srikanth expressed his inner feelings about the film industry and said that he was totally missing it from the past 1 year. Actor Srikanth is acting in his 100th film which is titled as “Mahatma” which is being directed by Director Krishna Vamsi.
Bhavana will play the female lead in this film and the regular shooting will start from 16th February 2009. Chiru who hurriedly came to Hyderabad to attend this film function expressed his desire that he misses Tollywood now, but has also disclosed that he has not retired from Tollywood yet. Indirectly, the megastars hinted that he may feature in a Telugu film after summer season and will only do some meaningful message oriented films.
According to sources, Megastar is said to be confident that he will surely win the coming elections.

MS Raju makes a suicide attempt

MS Raju, well known as a Maha Sankranthi Raju in the film industry is said to be a happy man these days as his latest movie MASAKA has earned some money for him at the box office. In a recent press meet he disclosed that the movie was a super hit and has collected more than 30 crores.
But these all stories are an eye wash to the audiences and the real truth is that MASAKA is battling at the box office to reach a 50 day mark. Actor Ram is not a big hero and it is a fact that his recent movies were hits at the box office due to the story, music, screenplay and new way of presentation. Though the young girls fall for him, he lacks the luster of a celebrity. Due to highly inflammable action script, the movie is said to be disliked by most of the youngsters who want different movies with novel concepts.
It is rumored that MS Raju has a debt of Rs 55 crores which he incurred for investing on his big budget movies. It is true that MS Raju never compromises with the budget and provides whatever his directors say. For this reason due to his past releases like AATA, Vaana and so on, it is said that the heavy built man has incurred losses of Rs 75 crores, out of which he succeeded in paying back 20 crores.
But still he needs more money to clear his debts. Unable to bear the pressure from his money lenders, he attempted suicide in his house on Wednesday and this news is disclosed by his house mates. But there is a controversy that some mild poison was mixed in his drink which he consumed and fell sick. It is gossiped that it was not a suicide attempt, but was a murder attempt.

This matter was kept under wraps till yesterday evening, but could not hold on long from spreading to media.

‘Dil’ Raju steps into Kollywood

Producer of super hits in Telugu, ‘Dil’ Raju stepped into production after being a distributor to Telugu industry. His films ‘Dil’, ‘Arya’, ‘Bhadra’, ‘Bommarillu’ and ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ were all super hits which gained him the name as ‘The Man with Midas touch’. He is now foraying into the Tamil Film Industry with his upcoming ‘Maro Charithra’, a remake of the yesteryear classic hit directed by K Balachander. Shriya charging Rs 10 lakhs per day

Though Shriya got good offers from Bollywood and Hollywood her career in the north and the west seems to be stopped progressing further. No more promising offers are heading her way. Now she is mainly focusing on south films especially Tamil films. She has signed couple of Tamil films. Besides films Shriya is also doing a couple of endorsements. Guess, how much she charges for shooting an Ad? If the sources are to believed she is taking Rs 10 lakhs per day for the shooting of an ad. While Tamannah charges Rs 4-5 laks per days, Kajal is charging Rs 1 lakh per day.

Srija- Sirish head to USA

If the sources are to believed, Chiranjeevi’s daughter Srija and her husband Sirish are heading to the US and will be there till the elections are over. 'King' to speak Tamil!!!

The latest superhit movie of Yuvasamrat Nagarjuna 'King' starring Trisha and Mamatha Mohandas as female leads is said to be dubbed in Tamil and it would be released as 'Pattukottai Azhagiri' in Kollywood. The film will be released under the Lakshmidevi banner by mega producer M.Purushothaman. DELHI 6: UA certificate with sound cuts!

This Friday will witness the release of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s much awaited DELHI 6, his next project after the iconic super-hit, RANG DE BASANTI. The Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Waheeda Rahman starrer has been rated as a social by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), and given a UA certificate (C.C. NO. CIL/2/17/2009) with a length of 3872.29 metres in 8 reels, with cuts in sound only. Reportedly, the film is 2 hours 18 minutes long. The film trade which was going through a dry spell, with delayed/small projects, saw a resurrection of sorts with the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s BILLU, and DELHI 6 is expected to carry forward the good phase and come up trumps at the ticket window. More so as there are no major films releasing after this Friday, and DELHI 6 is bound to enjoy an uninterrupted run, without facing much opposition. The only major roadblock is likely to be the upcoming IPL Twenty20 cricket matches.

'Amma’ Nirmalamma passed away

Veteran actress Nirmalamma passed away at her residence in Hyderabad. Better known for enactment of mother and grandmother on screen, Nirmalamma had acted in more than 700 films in Telugu. 82-year-old Nirmalamma has a daughter Kavita whose husband is also a producer. She started her career on stage at the age of 10. She made debut on screen with Ghantashala Balaramayya produced Garuda Gharva Bangam and later she went on to play mother roles to the then superstars - NTR and ANR. She also played grandma to the current superstars like Chiru (Gangleader, Magamaharaju, etc), NBK (President Gaari Abbayi, Muddula Mavayya) Venky and Nagarjuna.
Her last film was Premaki Swagatham. She won best supporting actress from Andhra Pradesh State Government for her role in Mayuri (1985). Some of her best films are - Yamagola (1975), Sangarshana (1983), Shankarabharanam, Manthrigari Viyyankudu (1983) Khaidi No. 786 (1988) Aakhari Poratam (1988), Chinnodu Peddodu (1988), Gang Leader (1991), Karthavyam (1991), Maavichiguru (1996).

Magadheera - is the flick starred by Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Agarwal as heroine in which Sri Hari is starring in a powerful villain role. During then a peculiar incident took place which is as follows, a child was suffering to respire was brought into the hospital having seen the patient doctors said that it is tough rescue this child as it would work out very costly, associate director having known this contributed Rs.5000 instantly and brought the same to the notice of director wherein he gave Rs.10,000 as his contribution and this news was brought to the notice of Allu Arjun immediately he responded and gave Rs.40,000 like son finally it went on to Rs. Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam(KIKK) --Review

A passable tale, the story is about Siddhu (Siddharth) who is a happy go lucky guy and is a major admirer of girls, true to his charms he has enough girls following him too. His life takes a turn when his friends group is joined by a new girl Geeta (Tamannah) who comes from a village and is the cousin of one of Siddhu's friends. Meanwhile, the playful nature of Siddhu does not impress Geeta the least bit and it is not until she knows about his painful past. Apparently, Siddhu's parents Prakash (Prakashraj) and Rajyalakshmi (Ramya) have been living separately from the past eighteen years and theirs happens to be a love marriage. The story gets a new twist when Siddhu and Geeta fall in love and he comes to her village to speak to her father Subramaniam (Nasser) who dotes on his daughter completely and equally strong is Geeta's feeling towards her father. However, Subramaniam is not too keen on Siddhu's proposal and indicates about his family background. He agrees to get them both married if Siddhu can reunite his own parents. From then on, Siddhu and Geeta come up with their trials to get both Prakash and Rajyalakshmi together. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

He did the same stint for his earlier film Chintakayala Ravi and he is doing the same for KIKK music too. The music has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and is doing well at the markets.

Nagesh Tamil comedian dead

Chennai, Jan 31 Veteran comedian Nagesh, who carved a niche for himself in the Tamil film industry both in humourous and character roles, died here today after a brief illness, family sources said.
Born as Gundu Rao to a Kannada Brahmin family in 1933, Nagesh was the most sought after actor in the MGR-Sivaji era of Tamil cinema in the 1960s and mid-seventies, and was a regular feature in the movies of these late superstars.

Nagesh, who was suffering from prolonged illness, breathed his last at his residence.

A 1000-film veteran, Nagesh was known for his timing and intonation that had the audience in splits. Even in serious movies, his roles were well-appreciated.

Nagesh has played some memorable characters. His role in ’Thiruvilaiyadal’ as Dharumi, a poet struggling to make ends meet and who gets a tete-a-tete with Lord Shiva, and as aspiring director Chellappa in ’Kadhalikaa Neramillai,’ are still remembered by Tamil movie-goers.

The actor also proved his mettle with serious roles in films like ’Ethirneechal’ and ’Neerkumizhi,’ besides playing the villain in Kamal Hassan starrer ’Apporva Sagotharagal,’ dubbed in Hindi as ’Appu Raja.’ PTI
